On a per-share basis, the Somerset, New Jersey-based company said it had a loss of $3.94. Losses, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 10 cents per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 13 cents per share.
The maker of drug delivery technologies posted revenue of $982 million in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $933.2 million.
Catalent expects full-year revenue in the range of $4.3 billion to $4.5 billion.
